Corfu

According to Greek mythology, the island was named after the daughter of the river god Asopos Kssorkyra nymph, who took away Neptune. In Homer's Odyssey we read that Odysseus found shelter here in Corfu at the end of his wanderings, and took care of King Alcinous, the people of the island and his daughter Nausika.
